Roller doors usually give some warning before they come off track. Our team handled a roller door repair in Armadale after the curtain pulled clear of one guide. The door then buckled and bowed into the shed. At that point it would not open or close at all.
A roller door off track puts strain on parts that were never meant to carry it. The curtain loses its guide on one side and twists as it travels. Each slat then rubs and flexes where it should sit flat. As a result, forcing the door usually bends more slats and damages the guide itself. For that reason, we ask owners to stop using the door and wait for us.
First, we secured the curtain so it could not drop while we worked. Then we eased the slats back into the guide and worked our way along the door. We checked both guides and the drum for damage before going further. In addition, we cleared grit out of the guide channels, since debris often starts the problem. Next, we confirmed the curtain sat square against the opening.
Once everything ran true, we put the door through several full open and close cycles. It then rolled up and down without catching or pulling to one side. We carried out a safety inspection to make sure everything was working properly.
