Our team headed to Merrimac, Gold Coast, to carry out a full garage door motor and spring replacement on a residential sectional door. The property had no motorised setup in place, and the springs needed replacing as part of a complete functional upgrade. Fitting a Superlift motor alongside new 780 springs gave the door the power and balance it needed to operate properly.
A sectional door without the right spring tension puts enormous strain on any motor. Without balanced springs, the motor works against the full dead weight of the door. That leads to premature motor failure, slow operation, and a door that can drop suddenly if the drive fails. Getting both components right at the same time is the only way to protect the investment long-term.
First, our team assessed the door weight and confirmed the correct spring specification. Next, we fitted the 780 springs to the torsion bar, setting the tension to balance the door correctly. Then we mounted the Superlift 1200N motor unit to the ceiling track. We ran the drive rail and connected it to the door header bracket. After that, we wired the motor, set the travel limits, and programmed the force settings to suit the door weight. Finally, we paired the remote controls and confirmed clean, consistent operation across multiple open and close cycles.
We ran the door through a full cycle of tests to confirm smooth travel in both directions and proper limit stops at open and closed positions. We carried out a safety inspection to make sure everything was working properly.
If your garage door feels heavy to lift manually, moves unevenly, or struggles to stay open, the springs are likely out of balance. Book a check before the added strain causes motor or hardware damage.
